We partnered with the Child Trauma Research Program at the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF) to develop the initial curriculum.
Our collaboration with the UCSF’s Child Trauma Research Program was the starting point for our work. The program’s focus is on supporting infants and their families in recovering and healing after experiencing traumatic events, and it is supported by a robust track record of evidence.
Our curriculum is founded on the Child-Parent Psychotherapy theoretical basis and the community-based model of the Building Bridges program.
The curriculum’s development included modifications based on input from semi-structured interviews, focus groups with women displaced by conflict, and teams from the Victims Unit, Ministry of Health and Social Protection, and the Mayor’s Office of Bogotá.
This ensured that the Semillas de Apego curriculum was responsive to the characteristics, strengths, and needs of communities exposed to conflict and forced migration.
The Inter-American Development Bank funded the development of the curriculum.
